All of the images in this gallery were taken at the de Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre.
This is
one of the oldest and only aviation museum in the UK dedicated to one
aircraft manufacturer. de Havilland can trace its history back to the
early days of aviation through to the birth of the jet age. During
this time de Havilland produced many iconic aircraft including: the Tiger
Moth, Mosquito, Vampire, and the Comet which was the first ever jet
airliner.
The museum is located at Salisbury Hall in
Hertfordshire, which was the site chosen by de Havilland to set up a secret
development facility during the second world war. It was here where
the Mosquito was designed and the prototype built.
Now on display is a selection of de Havilland aircraft,
engines and memorabilia. The star attraction is the prototype Mosquito,
which is the only original WWII prototype still surviving today. This
collection offers the visitor unique "hands on experience" and the
opportunity to follow the progress of the aircraft which are under going
restoration.
