We always have a week
in the Lakes in the Autumn, staying at Esthwaite Farm and more recently
Broomriggs, just down the road from Near Sawrey which was home
to Beatrix Potter. There are many
favourite walks we like to
do, and all of these images were taken on those walks. The walking comes
first - the images are just a bonus.
Some of these images have featured in Amateur Photographer Magazine's Readers
Gallery
I have read and heard many descriptions of The Lake
District, but my favourite is the one by Griff Rhys Jones from his
"Mountain" series where he describes the Lake District simply as:
"A Pocket of
Paradise"

Images Of
Lakeland
I need to be able to get away. No matter how much I enjoy my
everyday life: I still need that something else; something to think about
when I have a quiet moment to myself.
I have a chance to do just that; a chance to go to a place
where it is possible to get away from it all. Just to be able to wander
about. To be in God’s landscape as it was meant to be. Where I can clear
my mind, and get everything into a true perspective. Where I can look down
on the land from above and get the great satisfaction of being on top. But,
like everything, there has to be an end and I have to come back.
I need a reminder to bring back with me; to remind me of
where I have been and what I have seen: to keep everything fresh in my mind.
Heavenly Ascent
