Dedham Vale & East Bergholt Village in ‘Constable Country’

The Dedham Vale AONB is characterized by picturesque villages – East Bergholt being one of the largest and the prized location
of this property, along with gently rolling farmland, rivers, meadows, ancient woodlands, and with a wide variety of local wildlife
combines to create what many would describe as a traditional English lowland landscape. It has been a source of creative
inspiration for many artists and writers over the centuries, and it is still recognizable today as when it was painted by John
Constable in the 19th century - hence the term ‘Constable Country’. An artist who was born and grew up here in this captivating
landscape, who gave credit to his childhood here in East Bergholt for making him the painter he became.
