The Spirit of North Weald Gate Guardian

Replica of the Hurricane flown by Tom Neil DFC who flew the original aircraft from North Weald Airfield during the Battle of Britain - 1940.

This gate guardian was dedicated to the local community and all those who served at RAF North Weald on Sunday 19th April 2009 by Rev Rayner Harries MBE, Assistant Chaplin in Chief RAF (ret) and Cllr John Knapman, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council.

The flags representing the seven nations who served at North Weald can be seen behind the Spirit of North Weald, along with North Weald's famous Poplar trees on the left of the horizon.

Postcards and gifts featuring this image of the Spirit of North Weald are available from the North Weald Airfield Museum
